The band had a very busy Christmas season holding their own Christmas Concert as well as playing for a carol service and at a local care home.

On the 8th December the band returned to the venue where they held their 10th Anniversary concert, Wivenhoe Congregational Church to support the church in their carol service.

The 10th December saw the band returning to play for the residents and their families at Blomfield House Care Home. The band are always made to feel very welcome and on this occasion the band played a mix of Christmas carols and well known Christmas pieces.

The band’s formal Christmas Concert entitled ‘Christmas Classics‘ was held at St John’s and Highwoods Community Centre on 15th December.  A host of well known pieces were played and Eva and Gabrielle were awarded joint Star Players for the Autumn Term, as they had recently been promoted to Solo Cornet from 2nd Cornet.

The band was also busy carol playing at local supermarkets during December.  They visited Tesco Highwoods, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s raising just over £1200 – an amazing total!

As the band has done for the last few years they will donate a percentage of their carol playing income to The Colchester Foodbank Colchester Foodbank | Helping Local People in Crisis

Every year, the last rehearsal before Christmas is known as the Christmas Jumper Rehearsal. Band members are encouraged to come dressed in their best Christmas attire!!

Here are some of the younger members getting into the festive spirit!!

The band wishes all of their band members, their families and the supporters of the band a very happy and restful Christmas and New Year.
